In the Western World, a common theme regarding religion is that good conquers all. Japanese anime however has a different perspective of religion. A common way religion is portrayed in anime is that evil is superior to good. The Devil overpowers God. Evil conquers all This is a very different view from what us westerners are use too.

The main character of this popular series is Alucard. He is a vampire who is a form of satan. He despises Alexander who is a devoted Roman Catholic. During the main battle of the series, Alexander calls upon god's strength to defeat Alucard but does not succeed. Alucard comes out the winner. This is promoting that Alucard's satan demonic powers overcomes the power of the one and only god. According to the article ANIME,MANGA, AND CHRISTIANITY it says "Hellsing and Devilman, good devils are the leading figures (a concept which directly contradicts Christianity, which teaches that a devil is a fallen or evil angel)." We are only focusing on Hellsing, Alucard despite being evil, ends up being this sort of hero and has a religious past, hereby proving that he may very well be a fallen angel.

Ren, the main character lives with his foster father who is a priest. It is discovered however that Ren is the son of Satan. He finds this out when his foster father (Shiro) becomes possessed by Satan himself. The possession of a priest is almost taboo to talk about in western world as if to say "How dare we question the holy ones faith? The possession of the priest gives us a different perspective. It shows that Satan is superior enough to possess a priest and overcome god's protection.

Taking place back in the late 1800's, a young boy named Ciel Phantomhive is captured once he finds his parents murdered. Ciel was later captured, bought and tortured. He calls out for help, begging somebody to come save him. A demon called Sebastian appears and tells Ciel that he will save him and avenge his parents death only if hhe can have Ciel's soul once it's completed. Ciel agrees and makes a contract with the demon. Contrary to popular belief, that when you are in need, god or an angel sent by god will come save you. Here however, when Ciel who is a mere child was calling out for help, a demon appears rather than an angel.
